Individual Counselling for Relationship Challenges

Support for Clients Experiencing Relationship Challenges

Relationship challenges are one of the most common reasons people seek counselling. These concerns may involve relationships with parents, partners, friends, family members, work colleagues, or former partners. You may notice yourself feeling stuck in patterns that feel confusing, painful, or counterproductive, even when you are trying to relate differently.

In individual counselling, I support clients in exploring relationship challenges through attachment theory (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and Internal Family Systems lens. Together, we’ll explore how your past significant relationships, especially with parents, primary caregivers, romantic partners, and close friends may have impacted how you view and operate within relationships. Often, these patterns developed as ways of protecting yourself from past hurt, even if they are now creating barriers to connection, trust, or closeness.

We’ll work towards increasing awareness and insight into your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and then support you in making changes that feel aligned and authentic to you. This process can support you in responding to relationships with greater clarity and choice, rather than from old patterns, helping create space for more fulfilling and connected relationships moving forward.
