Support for Clients Experiencing Grief & Loss

Grief can arise after many kinds of loss, including the death of a loved one, changes in relationships, health, identity, or the future you imagined. There is no right way to grieve, and responses can shift over time. You may notice waves of sadness, longing, anger, guilt, numbness, or moments of feeling okay followed by intense grief again. All of these responses are normal, even when they feel confusing or overwhelming.

I approach grief through an Internal Family Systems lens where we gently explore the different parts of you that are responding to loss. Some parts may feel deeply sad, missing, or searching, while others may try to stay busy, minimize the loss, or protect you from being overwhelmed by pushing feelings away. Together, we work to meet all of these responses with compassion and curiosity, helping your system feel safe enough to grieve without getting flooded or shutting down.

Our work focuses on creating enough internal safety and support so grief can be felt, witnessed, and integrated at your own pace. Rather than forcing closure or moving on, we honour your unique grieving process while supporting emotional regulation, meaning making, and gradual reconnection to life and relationships. This approach allows grief to soften and transform over time, while preserving the significance of what and who has been lost.
