ABOUT MONICA CRAWFORD
Vancouver Counsellor
Hi, I’m Monica.
I’m so glad you’re here.
I (she/her) support individuals who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. This might show up as mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, relationship struggles, or lingering impacts of trauma. My goal is to create a space where you feel deeply seen, understood, and empowered to begin again.
My own healing journey keeps me hopeful for each and every one of my clients, regardless of what stage they are at in their healing and mental health wellness journey. What happened to you doesn’t have to be what defines you.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Although I’ve always felt passionately about psychology and mental health, I am originally from a business and finance background.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Victoria and spent several years as a commercial lender for one of Canada’s big five banks both in Ontario and British Columbia. I enjoyed the complexity and the challenges that came with my role, but my favourite part was always meeting with my clients - learning about their businesses, getting to know them as people, and acting as a support and trusted advisor on their journey.
In 2020, I left the financial sector and pursue a career in counselling. Since this time, I have held a range of roles in the mental health field, spanning from providing counselling in private practice settings to supporting individuals in crisis (e.g. acute suicide ideation, abuse, grief, etc.).
I am a Graduate Counsellor from Adler University, which means I have completed the academic and clinical practicum requirements for my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. I am a student member with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and my application for registration as a clinical counsellor will be put in once my degree is conferred (expected December, 2025).
